In 2018, R3architetti expanded its practice by relocating to a ground-floor space in Turin’s San Salvario district, just a few meters from Valentino Park. The studio comprises four rooms, whose layout preserves the original organization of the 19th-century building in which it is housed. The entrances are aligned along a single axis, allowing movement from one space to the next without the need for corridors.
Beyond the reception area lies the first room, dedicated to design work. The high vaulted ceilings made it possible to develop the space vertically through the addition of a mezzanine level, which provides an additional workstation. The adjoining room functions as the meeting area, shared with the final room that accommodates a partner construction company.
All spaces are unified by a multifunctional metal frame that acts as both a visual and structural device. It frames the work areas, supports work surfaces, integrates indirect linear lighting to illuminate the vaulted ceilings, and serves as a divider or mezzanine structure within the design room. Power outlets and data cables are seamlessly built into the workstations, while suspended ceiling lamps provide focused direct lighting.
Attention to detail extends to the choice of materials: cement wall panels were cast using formworks inspired by traditional boiserie patterns, while portions of the metal framework are clad in marble, granite, and wood — giving each room its own distinct identity within a cohesive whole.
