T-House
T-House, the musician’s home, is a 100-square-meter penthouse with windows on three sides in Turin. The renovation project radically transformed the home’s layout, creating a spacious living area, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms.
Upon entering, the large-format floor tiles guide the way toward the heart of the living room. An iron beam/bookshelf divides the space in two, creating a more convivial living area facing the entrance and a more intimate, private area leading to the sleeping quarters. This unique piece of furniture was designed to hold books and objects on both sides and conceals a strip of light that illuminates the living area. At the ends of the suspended beam are two built-in bookcases composed of a dense interweaving of metal rods, whose design draws inspiration from the strings of a guitar, a great passion of the owner.
The rough texture of the metal is offset by the double-sided velvet sofa, which allows the space to be used in different ways throughout the day. On the wall facing the sleeping area, a series of wooden wall-mounted cabinets are arranged horizontally, like notes on a musical score. Interspersed among these furnishings are the two doors leading to the sleeping area, both framed by a thin metal trim.
Next to the entrance, in a space set back from the living room, sits the all-black kitchen, whose visual continuity is interrupted only by the Guatemalan marble countertop. The peninsula, clad in the same material, extends into the living area, connecting the two spaces.
The sleeping area consists of two bedrooms and their respective bathrooms and faces east. The floor is made of Italian herringbone oak, which creates a warmer and more intimate atmosphere than the rest of the house.
