This small library, designed for the Municipality
This small library, designed for the Municipality of Rosta, offers bright and flexible spaces primarily intended for children and after-school activities. Conceived as a small addition to the existing school, the project unfolds in a single, fluid L-shaped space. A service volume clad in wood warms the atmosphere with its natural tones and plays an important role in acoustic absorption. At the junction of the two wings, a versatile area is dedicated to children’s reading, positioned next to a full-height glazed window that opens onto the mountain landscape of the Susa Valley. . . . While the real estate market is shifting toward smaller, more flexible spaces, a new demand is emerging: that of “age-friendly” housing designed for people over 65 who are looking not just for assistance, but for autonomy, safety, and social connections. It’s the era of #seniorliving, where the home once again becomes a place for life and community, not isolation. The new building for the institutional events of the Port Authority of Ravenna becomes a landmark of the dock, a symbolic bridge between the city and the port. Set within the post-industrial landscape, it dialogues with silos and warehouses, absorbing existing urban flows and generating new ones. Two public axes intersect the volume, organizing the foyer, offices, café and auditorium. An exposed concrete skin unifies the functions and evokes the port’s identity, reinterpreting the existing Port Authority headquarters in a contemporary key. . . .
