Uluru
Uluru is the most imposing rock formation in the Australian outback.
Surrounded by the completely flat expanse of the bush, it is visible from dozens of kilometers away and is famous for its intense red color.
The project takes its name from this; the feature at the center of the room creates a circular flow within the space and separates the sleeping area from the living area.
The project stems from a significant simplification of the spaces. The living area is clearly separated from the sleeping area by a filter element. This is a service volume that houses various functions: a laundry area facing the sleeping area, a study/library corner facing the living area, and a wine rack in the kitchen corner. This element appears as a volume clad in red terracotta and hollowed out internally to accommodate the different functions. a massive monolith of red sandstone rising from the desert. And, in our case, a large, central volume around which the life of the apartment revolves. The ability to walk around its entire perimeter makes the spaces fluid and movement between the two areas of the home easy without the need for hallways.
