Specchio da qua

The pool was conceived as an addition to the courtyard of an old farmhouse in the hills of the Asti area, making use of the narrow, elongated space formerly occupied by a small storage building.
The site was chosen for its particular landscape value, overlooking the valley below, characterised by vineyards, sunflowers and hazelnut groves. The predominance of the landscape led to the design of an infinity pool overlooking the valley, whose simple paving geometry highlights the surrounding context.
The area surrounding the pool is divided into a sunbathing area along the edge facing the valley, a slightly raised platform for poolside events, and a panoramic terrace.
The surface cladding recalls the colours of the surrounding earth, while the pool basin was designed in a light colour to give the water a crystalline and natural effect. The intervention, which involved the use of pile foundations, preserved some existing features, such as the two old fig trees whose canopies emerge from the water’s edge.
The atmosphere is particularly striking on autumn days, when the fog rises from the valley and, in the silence, the water seems to disappear into nothingness.
