A late nineteenth-century house, built with thick masonry walls and vaulted ceilings, where the patina of time regains its value as something to be rediscovered and preserved. Here, time is not erased but embraced as an integral part of the architecture.
A solid white volume contains the service core—kitchen and bathroom—while a lightweight structure accommodates the sleeping loft. These two contemporary interventions are carefully inserted into the spatial framework of the historic building, allowing the existing architecture to tell its own story.
Curtains define the living spaces without rigidly dividing them, while reclaimed furniture, cherished objects, and heirlooms rich in memory create an authentic domestic landscape. Among them hangs a bicycle that once rode the white gravel roads of L’Eroica, suspended like a silent presence: a symbol of endurance, slowness, and respect for everything that withstands the passage of time.
A truly “Heroic” House, one that refuses to chase the new at any cost and instead celebrates what already exists, embracing its imperfections and transforming them into character. Here, value is not measured by speed, but by the ability to persevere, to preserve, and to keep moving forward.
